本名Talib Johnson的Musiq Soulchild,在費城出生,生長於管教嚴厲的回教家庭，是家中年齡最大的孩子。從小就受到James Brown, Patti LaBelle等黑人音樂的啟蒙，中學沒畢業就到處在一些大小演出中汲取經驗,後來吸引Def Jam注意,贏得出專輯的機會。

他寫了一首很棒的歌:Don't Change,幫助我很大.

曾經有一陣子非常辛苦.早上六點起床,家事做完,馬上要趕著上整天滿堂的課或實習.上完課要趕快去打工,上完班回到家可能十點十一點,還要面對家人的等待,期待妳幫家裏做事.不能怪他們,因為大家都辛苦.忙完可能已經十二點多,還要溫書,明天可能還有許多大小考試等著.

那時也是像這樣冷的冬天傍晚,我在高速公路上塞著車.趕時間趕路,卻無奈的動彈不得.看著一望無際的車陣跟遠方點點的燈光,會覺得,啊,這明明是耶誕節不是嗎,每個人都準備要開心的過節了;這麼的熱鬧,這麼漂亮的萬家燈火,為什麼我卻覺得荒涼;為什麼我是這麼疲憊.

這時這首歌在收音機裏響起,頓時美麗的燈火都矇朧了,光芒都流進到心裏.這一切就能從容的微笑以對了.不管有多麼的狼狽辛苦,現實有多艱難,還是有一首歌能讓妳看見人世間的美好,能夠熨燙被現實磨粗磨傷的心.

(現在回想起來真驚訝耶,那時聽力不好,居然歌詞能聽懂七成..真不容易啊~^^)
